The Wayland High School violinists participated in a masterclass led by Heidi Braun-Hill on Thursday, October 16. This masterclass was made possible by generosity of the Creative Arts Parent Association (CAPA).

The career of violinist Heidi Braun-Hill has led her to perform in many of the world’s most illustrious concert halls, including Symphony Hall in Boston, Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center in New York, the Cite de la Music in Paris, and the Barbican Centre in London.

She has made guest appearances as concertmaster of many orchestras in and around Boston, including the Orchestra of Emmanuel Music, Chamber Orchestra of Boston, the Vermont Symphony Orchestra, and has made recordings for Arsis and Nonesuch.

CAPA needs volunteers for 2014-2015!

We are seeking to expand the number of people involved in CAPA to make it an even stronger, more collaborative, and more fun organization! The more parents involved, the better our support for ALL of the fine arts at WHS – both visual and performance – through special grants for equipment/supplies, support of arts honor societies, support of exhibits, concerts, shows, and field trips, and special recognition, like fine arts jackets and Fine Arts Awards night.

We are looking to fill the following roles:

College A Cappella concerts (fall and spring)

  • Committee chair(s) – coordinate work of committee
  • Ticket sales coordinator
  • Committee members for PR, refreshments, and other concert help

Public Relations

  • PR/Marketing coordinator – ongoing coordination for PR team
  • CAPA mailings coordinator – mail CAPA brochures in early fall
  • Writer – draft updates for school community on CAPA-sponsored activities

Performance Help

  • Theater photographer
  • Theater ticket sales at door
  • Intermission snack sales – organize contributions, run sales
  • Committee members for other general theater help
  • Window dance troupe liaison

Fine Arts Night Coordinator – organize and coordinate team of helpers for event in June.

If you can join us, please contact us. Thanks so much for considering!
