Fine Arts Jackets – Forms due Feb 27

CAPA subsidizes the Fine Arts Jacket for students who have demonstrated exceptional achievement and dedication in the arts. Students who have earned 300 points are eligible for a jacket. Forms are due in the Fine Arts office by February 27, and fittings will be held during lunch periods on Wednesday, March 8. If you already have a jacket, students can earn service bars for each additional 200 points.

Congratulations to all of our WHS musicians who auditioned on November 19 at Milton High School for the Eastern District Senior Band, Orchestra, Chorus and Jazz Band. I am pleased to report that 32 of our students were selected from the rigorous audition process to participate in the festival at Boston Latin School in January. Student Celebration 8:00-9:30pm

Calling all WHS fine arts students! The Creative Arts Parent Association (CAPA) presents WHS Fine Arts Night. As in past years, Fine Arts Night has two parts:

Awards Ceremony, 7-8pm
Families are welcome – We will meet in WHS Auditorium for the presentation of awards to all Fine Arts students, including awarding of Fine Arts jackets.

Parents, please consider helping out as a chaperone or volunteer. We will be providing pizza, drinks, popcorn, and treats as well as a karaoke DJ. We need parent chaperones from 8:00-9:30pm (you can sign up for 45-minute slots) and parent helpers to bring drinks, clean up, and operate food machines.

Here’s how it works in two easy steps:

1) Sign up on VolunteerSpot
2) Review the options listed and choose the spot(s) you like.

Eight Musicians Selected for All State

by Susan Memoli

It is my pleasure to announce that Wayland High School has 8 students who were selected for the 2016 MMEA All State Music Festival!

The auditionees were selected to audition based on their high scores from the Eastern District Senior Festival. The top scoring students from all 5 MA geographic districts auditioned at Shrewsbury High School on 1/23. The audition included a prepared selection, scales and sight reading.

Congratulations to the largest Wayland representation in recent memory! These students will participate in rehearsals March 10-11 in Boston and perform at Symphony Hall on March 12, 2016.

Fine Arts Night is June 5 – Volunteers Needed

Friday, June 5, 7:00-9:30pm
Wayland High School Commons & Main Stage

Fine Arts awards, including jackets, will be awarded this Friday, followed by a fun-filled carnival with karaoke, popcorn, cotton candy, pizza and more. All Fine Arts students and families are invited for the awards ceremony and slide show from 7-8pm. After that, the party begins for students only (and volunteers, of course).

Please note that the location has changed from past years — we will be at WHS, not at the Longfellow Club. No need to bring chairs!

We need volunteers to make Fine Arts Night a success! Sign up at Volunteer Spot if you are interested in helping out.

Fine Arts Night – Friday, June 6

Friday, June 6
7:00-8:00pm: Awards
8:00-10:00pm: Student Celebration
Longfellow Club, Oak Street, Natick
$5 donation per student

Calling all WHS fine arts students! The Creative Arts Parent Association (CAPA) presents WHS Fine Arts Night. As in past years, Fine Arts Night has two parts:

Awards Ceremony, 7-8pm
Families are welcome – Please bring a chair. We are saving money by not renting or hauling chairs, so this event will be standing room only, unless you bring your own seat. The Longfellow Club requests that chairs have rubber tips on the legs, to avoid damaging the court floors.

Student Celebration, 8-10pm
WHS Fine Arts students and alumni only. Stay after the awards ceremony and swim (bring your swimsuit), play basketball or just hang out. We have rented Longfellow for you!

Pizza and snacks will be served at $5 donation per student.

Parents: please consider helping to chaperone this event. Contact us (contact@whsarts.org) and let us know if you’d prefer a shift from 8-9pm, 9-10pm, or if you can do the full two hours. We need both dads and moms.
